Japanese Art
Coram James values Japanese works of art for insurance, probate, divorce and sale, from netsuke to complete collections.
Our Japanese art specialist trained at Phillips, where he ran the Asian art department, and was later a director of Bonhams.
What We Value
- Netsuke, inro and lacquer
- Satsuma, Imari and Kakiemon porcelain
- Meiji metalwork, bronzes and cloisonné
- Woodblock prints, including Hokusai and Hiroshige
- Screens and paintings
- Samurai swords and armour
- Okimono and carvings
Signature, school and condition are central to value. Most items containing ivory can no longer be sold under the Ivory Act 2018, though some older pieces qualify for exemptions, and we advise on what can and cannot be sold.
To discuss a piece or collection, please contact Robert Coram James on 020 7305 7360 or at info@coramjames.com.
