Insurance Valuations

Coram James provides insurance valuations of art collections, house contents, jewellery and watches for private collectors, family offices, trusts and institutions.

An accurate and current valuation is essential to ensure that cover reflects the true value of a collection. Underinsurance may result in a reduced settlement in the event of a claim, while overvaluation can lead to excessive premiums and disputed claims.

We are approved valuers for leading high net worth insurers and offer preferential fees to their policyholders. As a firm regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, all reports are prepared in accordance with RICS Valuation Global Standards (the Red Book).

Collections and House Contents

We visit the property to examine and photograph each item and prepare a detailed inventory arranged room by room. For larger collections spanning several categories, we bring in the relevant specialists, whether for pictures, furniture, silver, ceramics or jewellery, so that every object is assessed by an expert in its field. The result is a single, clearly presented report.

Post-Loss and Damage Reports

We prepare forensic valuation reports following loss, theft or damage, working closely with insurers, loss adjusters and solicitors. Our reports address diminution in value, total loss and replacement cost, and we can advise on restoration and conservation where appropriate.

Fees

Our fees are charged on an hourly basis and are not related to the value of the property. For further information, please contact us on 020 7305 7360 or at info@coramjames.com.
